Oscar Nominations 20100!

The King’s Speech dominated the Oscar nominations, earning 12 including best picture, best director, best actor for Colin Firth, best supporting actress for Helena Bonham Carter and best supporting actor for Geoffrey Rush.

Although it was considered snubbed at the Golden Globes, the Academy showed love for True Grit with 10 nods. The Social Network and Inception each have 8 nominations.

True Grit

Front-runners Colin Firth and Natalie Portman predictably scored nods in the lead actor and actress categories. Jennifer Lawrence is the only first-time nominee in the best actress category, however Nicole Kidman is the only past winner.

Firth will compete against Jeff Bridges, Jesse Eisenberg, Javier Bardem and Oscar host James Franco.

BEST PICTURE nominees are, 127 Hours Black Swan,The Fighter, Inception, The Kids Are All Right, The King’s Speech, The Social Network, Toy Story 3, True Grit, Winter’s Bone.

Fighter

The biggest snub though was Christopher Nolan as best director for Inception. He’d already been overlooked for helming The Dark Knight and Memento and was believed to have been a shoo-in this year.

Mila Kunis and Andrew Garfield had generated a lot of buzz for their supporting roles in Black Swan and The Social Network, however neither were shown any Oscar love.

Oh well, Oscar or no Oscar at least they still have their talent.
