Lady Gaga gets censored in Malaysia

Lady Gaga’s song “Born This Way” has been censored in Malaysia because its lyrics promote acceptance of gay people. The mostly Muslim nation has censored the line, “No matter gay, straight or bi, lesbian, transgendered life, I’m on the right track baby.”

AMP Radio Networks, Malaysia’s top private radio company, explains that those words could be considered offensive in Malaysian society. The Network said, “The issue of being gay, lesbian or bisexual is still considered as a taboo by general Malaysians.”

Even though she’s being censored in Malaysia, Lady Gaga is still breaking boundaries. The Recording Industry Association of America has just recognized her as the highest-certified artists of digital singles, in Gold and Platinum history. She has 20 million downloads sold.
