Re-known African literature expert, film writer, poet and play write Professor Wole Soyinka is set to grace this year’s Kenya International Film Festivals that will take place between October 21 -31, 2011.

Wole will be joined by Idrissa, a well-known film director from Burkina Faso as jury member at KIFF 2011 (He brought us films like Yaaba and Tilaï.

I absolutely adore this man’s writing (and Chinua Achebe who we had to do for O Level literature).

Akinwande Oluwole “Wole” Soyinka (born 13 July 1934) is a Nigerian writer, poet and playwright. He was awarded the 1986 Nobel Prize in Literature and man did he deserve it!

He has written plays like: “The Lion and the Jewel’, ‘A play of Giants’, ‘The trials of brothe Jero’ and ‘Death and the King’s Horsemen’.

He is also a  cousin to Fela Kuti!

KIFF boss Charles Asiba stated they were happy to have the 2 of them and was hoping they’d educate the youth in literature.
